This particular coil is an austenitic chromium-nickel-molybdenum alloy, featuring 18–20% chromium, 11–15% nickel, and 3–4% molybdenum. The inclusion of molybdenum enhances its resistance to chlorides and sulfuric acid. The 317L variant, with its lower carbon content, is designed for better weldability and reduced carbide precipitation. It boasts a tensile strength of about 515 MPa and a yield strength close to 205 MPa, while still maintaining excellent ductility, toughness, and corrosion resistance, even in high-temperature or chemically aggressive environments.
